Anil Kapoor is a brilliant man. He has the gift of being able to create the perfect moment and make someone feel like a million bucks. I first met Anil as he was giving a talk to a group of children at a kid’s summer camp. He had such a good presence and such an incredible smile. I was immediately drawn to him and his talk. After the talk, Anil invited me down to his home for a long visit.
He was really nice and generous with his time and I was really happy to have him in my life. We became fast friends and it was hard to leave. I ended up staying an extra day in Delhi so we could go see his family and I got a chance to meet him and his family a few days later. He was so nice and funny and I loved his family.
I think that the story of Anil and me was the beginning of my love for films. I watched so many films with him and he was the only one who could put me in the mood of a film. And he had a way of making me laugh without even trying too hard. I was always really happy when I was with Anil and it was just like we were a couple.
Anil is only 24. He is a filmmaker in his own right, but this is his debut. There was a time when the only films that I went to see were those of Amitabh Bachchan and Raj Kapoor, and Anil is no exception. His family is the same as mine. We are from the same part of Mumbai and still visit each other’s families regularly. This was truly a first meeting.
Anil and I first connected when we went to watch the film “Rajasthala” together. He was very keen to get to know me and seemed to be genuinely interested in my stories.
I am not sure why Anil is always so keen to meet me. Maybe it’s because I’m a vegetarian (not eating meat actually) and he’s not. I don’t know. Maybe we are in the same time-line or something. All I know is that we’re going to have a good time and I’m looking forward to it.
Anil and I, I mean, we aren’t going to be friends. But I think we will get along fine. He won’t ask you to come out on a date, because that’s just not his style. He’s a real gentleman, which is why we are making so many movies together. But Anil and I are just friends, just friends.
