Lollu Sabha is a tradition in India where people gather in a circle where a bhajan (sacred song) is recited in praise of a particular deity. This is usually accompanied by the recitation of a blessing or a prayer for the deity, as well as the recitation of a song, such as the Hindu “Santoshi” (the Lord of the Dance).
The most famous example of this is the legendary Jain festival of the same name. The festival is celebrated by the Jains in the month of Soma, which falls at the end of the Hindu calendar. Jainism, like other Indian religions, is the religion of the sages, and the Jains use the festival to study their religious texts.
For example, the Jainism festival, which is similar to the Christmas or Easter festival of Christianity, has a story of how one of the Jains, Bhishma, is reborn on the second day of the festival and is granted the ability to live for the rest of the year.
In lollu sabha, people do the same thing as the Jains – they create a new life for themselves, and the people of South India dedicate the festival to the Goddess Lollu. As in the story of Bhishma, the people of South India take one day out of their lives and dedicate it to this goddess, and then the next day, the people of India go back to their daily lives.
lollu sabha is a very old festival, and it’s not as prevalent as in many other parts of India. It’s a festival of rebirth that is held approximately every 12 years, and the festival’s name is derived from the Sanskrit word for “lollu sabha” which means “birth.” In the story, Bhishma, the Jain hero, is born again on the second day of the festival.
Bhishma has two brothers, one of whom is the boy who must complete the festival and make it a day to last forever. We then meet an older lollu sabha boy named Shishupal who has also been born for the festival, and he helps Bhishma find his way back to his family.
In the lollu sabha story, Bhishma is an orphan who has been raised by the Jain sage Bhishma’s father, Sanat Kumara, in his village of Kapilbhati. We see him growing up, but he has no real friends and rarely leaves his house. He has a very special ability: he can take on the shape of any being, animal or man, and use it to do wonderful things.
Like many other stories we find, lollu sabha has a lot of plot holes.
The biggest one here is that we never really know what Bhishma’s real job is. We never see what he does around his house, and it’s never explained what he does after he leaves it. It’s also impossible to know what he’s really thinking because we’ve never seen what his actions are like when he’s not using his powers.
lollu sabha could definitely be one of those games that doesn’t take itself very seriously. It seems like it would be fun, but most of the time you might not be 100% convinced it is a game you enjoy.
