The first step towards becoming a citizen of the United States is to obtain an H-1B visa. One of the key benefits of the H-1B is that it allows for employers to hire people from overseas without hiring them. That is, if you are a Mexican, you can still be a Mexican, but you won’t be able to become a US citizen. It is a short step from there to US citizenship. Not so with H-1Bs.
